A roundtable "President Ilham Aliyev's peace strategy is a guarantor of stability" has been held in Baku, organized by the Media Development Agency.
Report informs that Natig Mammadli, deputy executive director of the agency, said at the event that it was important for Azerbaijani media to promote peace in the world.
He said this task was in line with all principles of media ethics.
Mammadli said fake news spreads six times faster than true news, adding that even refuting fake news does not have the same effect as its spread. He said the main goal of Azerbaijani media is to promote peace and tell the truth, and that views on peace should be disseminated as professionally as possible.
Former Foreign Minister Tofig Zulfugarov said various centers still had certain malicious plans against Azerbaijan and its allies, and that the media should therefore remain vigilant amid these processes.
The former minister added that even after the Patriotic War, some major players tried to implement various plans against Azerbaijan.
He said they had tried to create a hotbed to continue their activities against Azerbaijan. Zulfugarov said Azerbaijan's victory was a great triumph and that the country should be very sensitive and careful on this issue, as various centers still had certain malicious plans against Azerbaijan and its allies.
MP Fariz Ismayilzada, in turn, touched upon Azerbaijan's role as a reliable partner in the South Caucasus.
He also referred to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, saying some forces wanted to undermine the peace process because of differences of opinion within the country.
MP Rizvan Nabiyev said recent high-level visits to Azerbaijan showed that the country was a reliable partner amid global developments.
Historian Rizvan Huseynov, speaking about processes in the region, said France had now turned its attention to the South Caucasus.
He said Azerbaijan was the leading state in the region. Huseynov said that just as liberating Karabakh had been a priority for Azerbaijan, preserving its leadership in the South Caucasus was also a priority, adding that France's use of Armenia as a tool would not work.
The event ended with a question-and-answer session with media representatives.
