Bahar Muradova: Children's gaming platforms ready to co-op with Azerbaijan

Several children's gaming platforms have expressed readiness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in solving existing problems, Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, said in response Report's question.

Speaking at the My Voice – My Rights conference dedicated to International Children's Day on June 1, Muradova emphasized that the goal is not to restrict these platforms in the country:

"Our aim is to establish standards to protect children from harmful information on platforms they create and develop daily, and to strengthen monitoring mechanisms. In today's digital era, bans alone cannot achieve results."

She noted that platforms with millions of users can also take effective steps to eliminate problems:

"We want to contribute to solving these issues in cooperation with them. Platforms that provide children with opportunities for communication, idea exchange, and development must act more responsibly in addressing challenges that hinder progress. Following meetings and Azerbaijan's stance, other social media platforms have also contacted us, expressing readiness to cooperate. What we want is for platform leaders to recognize their responsibility and approach the issue with greater sensitivity."

On March 19, the Committee held an online meeting with the global platform Roblox. Concerns were raised that Roblox, instead of being a safe learning and entertainment environment, could become a source of serious social problems due to content violating legal and family values. The Committee stressed the importance of strengthening protection mechanisms, especially for children under 16, and warned that if these issues are not addressed, the platform's activity in Azerbaijan could be restricted.
