Azerbaijani official urges to consider air quality in urban planning

Improving atmospheric air monitoring is among Azerbaijan's priority tasks, Umayra Taghiyeva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, said at an event held within the framework of World Urban Forum 13.

According to her, air quality has become one of the key indicators of urban sustainability, public health, and sustainable development.

"Clean air is no longer solely an environmental issue," she emphasized.

Taghiyeva noted that achieving sustainable development requires integrating air quality management into urban planning, transport systems, energy policy, and the development of green infrastructure.

"In Azerbaijan, improving atmospheric air monitoring is among the priority tasks. Monitoring results are evaluated daily and published on the ministry's official platform," the deputy minister said.
