Azerbaijan to hold nationwide population census in October 2029

Azerbaijan will conduct its next nationwide population census from October 1 through October 31, 2029, under a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

The census will be the first to cover the country's entire territory since Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and full state sovereignty. It aims to provide comprehensive population data and assess the country's social and demographic situation.

Under the decree, the census will reflect the population as of October 1, 2029.

The State Statistical Committee has been tasked with preparing and conducting the census, processing the results, and publishing the findings.

The Cabinet of Ministers must approve an action plan for the census within two months and ensure the integration of relevant administrative data from state institutions into the State Statistical Committee's database.

Azerbaijan last conducted a population census in 2019.
