Azerbaijan strengthening mechanisms for combating terrorism financing

Azerbaijan is strengthening mechanisms for combating the financing of terrorism and clarifying the liability of legal entities in this area, Report informs referring to proposed amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes.

The draft was presented for discussion at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building.

The document notes that if, as a result of a legal entity's improper organization of control over financial transactions in the manner established by law, officials commit a crime related to the financing of terrorism while performing their official duties, criminal legal measures will be applied to the legal entity regardless of whether the crime was committed in the interests of this legal entity or to protect its interests.
