Azerbaijan's State Security Service conducts genetic identification of 328 missing persons

Laboratory analyses for the genetic identification of 328 missing persons have been carried out at the Genetic Research Center of the Main Military Medical Department of Azerbaijan's State Security Service (SSS), Major General Rufat Aliyev, Head of the Main Military Medical Department of the SSS, stated at the 4th International Conference within the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons, Report informs.
Aliyev stated that the digital transformation of the Genetic Research Center, along with the use of modern technological instruments and equipment, has increased the reliability of examinations and improved the quality of services.
"The results obtained have further strengthened public confidence in the process of searching for missing persons," he said.
He noted that the rapid development of new DNA analysis technologies requires genetics specialists to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills. For this reason, particular attention is paid to specialized training programs and ongoing professional development.
Aliyev also noted that the laboratory of the Genetic Research Center was accredited and certified by the National Accreditation Center in May 2024 in accordance with international standards.
