Azerbaijan's energy strategy makes an important contribution to regional and global security, Azerbaijani MP Jeyhun Mammadov told Report.

According to him, the addresses sent by US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the participants of Baku Energy Week once again demonstrated the importance of the event, as well as Azerbaijan's important and special position.

"These addresses are an indicator of Azerbaijan's relations with international partners and our country's growing authority. Today, Azerbaijan plays an important role in the West's energy security and is regarded as a reliable partner and one of its strategic allies. Although various criticisms and restrictive approaches are observed regarding energy issues, we have once again seen energy security come to the fore. In all cases, how to strike a balance between the use of traditional energy resources and green energy is an important issue."

Mammadov said the policy currently being implemented by Azerbaijan in this area under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev is a unique example and model.

"Azerbaijan's energy strategy makes an important contribution not only to the country's economic development, but also to the energy security of the region and Europe. Today, Azerbaijan plays a very important role in Europe's energy security. Azerbaijan's position in international energy security and the activities it carries out are of special importance in terms of global energy security. This role is strengthening and growing day by day. In different periods, revenues from oil and gas projects have been directed toward Azerbaijan's development. The foundation of this policy was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and President Ilham Aliyev has successfully continued this policy," he said.

The member of the Milli Majlis stressed that directing oil and gas revenues toward the construction of social infrastructure, the development of education and healthcare, and army building brought Azerbaijan victory.

"This policy laid the foundation for new development and education infrastructure in the country. Today, Azerbaijan is one of the few countries able to turn energy capital and oil capital into human capital. This is Azerbaijan's historic success and historic achievement. Many countries around the world highly appreciate and value this success. Azerbaijan is making a very important and significant contribution to this process, pursuing a far-sighted and consistent independent policy in this direction and taking important measures. This both strengthens our country's reputation and ensures the development of our state in this area. At the same time, it further strengthens and consolidates Azerbaijan's position in the world. The steps Azerbaijan is taking and the measures it is implementing today are aimed precisely at this. Of course, far-sighted and wise policy plays a major role here," he said.
