Anar Baghirov: Sports facilities must be part of public life

Sports facilities should be built with consideration for the real needs of the population and actively integrated into public life, Anar Baghirov, Director of the External Relations Department of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan, said during an event held within the framework of World Urban Forum 13.

According to him, for the effective construction of sports infrastructure, it is important to involve specialized experts and take into account the actual needs of residents.

"The mere existence of infrastructure is not enough. These facilities must be actively used and become part of public life. This is where National Olympic Committees and sports federations come to the forefront," Baghirov emphasized.

He noted that cities and government institutions provide infrastructure and accessibility, while sports organizations are responsible for maintenance, coaching support, and public engagement.
