As part of the Azerbaijani Culture Days in Turkmenistan, the feature film "Taghiyev: Oil" was shown to audiences.
According to a Report correspondent from Turkmenistan, the film screening took place at the Ashgabat Cinema, part of the "Kinovideoobsluzhivanie" (Film and Video Services) association.
The event was attended by Murad Huseynov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, Nursahed Shirimov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, as well as other official representatives of both ministries, cultural workers, public figures, and media representatives.
Before the screening, Orkhan Fikretoglu, Advisor to the Minister of Culture, emphasized the importance of holding the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Turkmenistan in a conversation with journalists: "Both nations are extremely close culturally. Such reciprocal cultural events contribute to the further strengthening of friendly and fraternal ties between our peoples."
Fikretoglu also noted that the theme of the film "Taghiyev: Oil" is familiar and relatable to Turkmen audiences: "Considering that the Turkmen people are also actively involved in the oil and gas industry, the film's content is well known to them."
The advisor to the minister emphasized that three films on the Culture Days program are produced projects, which, he said, will serve as a stimulus for the development of producer-driven cinema.
The film's director, Zaur Gasimli, said that "Taghiyev: Oil" will be shown throughout the cultural events.
"We are convinced that, thanks to the cultural closeness and strong cultural ties between our two countries, such film screenings can be held much more frequently," he noted.
Sakhisaleh Bayramov, Deputy General Director of Turkmenfilm, said that he first saw "Taghiyev: Oil" in Kazakhstan at the Gorgud Ata festival and was deeply impressed.
"In this regard, we held discussions with the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan regarding joint film production. Overall, our people and their cultural traditions are very similar. Therefore, the implementation of joint film projects seems entirely feasible," he added.
Following the official ceremony, a screening of the full-length feature film "Taghiyev: Oil" took place.
This film was produced by the Baku Media Center with the assistance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The film is the first part of the multi-part film project "Taghiyev," which tells the story of the life of the famous millionaire and outstanding philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev.
