Adil Karimli: Azerbaijan's model of multicultural values applied worldwide

Azerbaijan's distinctive model for presenting multicultural values is already being used as an example around the world, Culture Minister Adil Karimli said at a conference titled "Preservation of historical and religious monuments: challenges and prospects," jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the State Committee for Affairs with Religious Associations.

According to Report, the minister highlighted the distinctive characteristics of historical and religious monuments as an important aspect of cultural heritage preservation.

According to Karimli, historical and religious monuments located in Azerbaijan's territories that were under occupation suffered extensive damage during the occupation period.

"Some of these monuments were completely destroyed, while acts of vandalism were committed at many others. At the same time, there were cases of cultural property belonging to these historical and religious monuments and complexes, and constituting their integral parts, being illegally removed from the country," he said.

Karimli said that the consequences of occupation create serious difficulties and negative circumstances, describing these as painful realities experienced by Azerbaijan.

The minister also said that the Azerbaijani state has been implementing intensive and large-scale measures to restore the monuments in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur during the post-conflict period.

"Under the leadership of the President, particular attention is being paid to restoring historical and cultural heritage in these areas," Karimli said.

He noted that important projects are being carried out to restore and conserve damaged historical and religious monuments and preserve them for future generations.

According to the minister, the process is important not only for protecting Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage, but also for promoting the country's history and cultural identity at the international level.
