UNFCCC praises Azerbaijan's role in reaching climate agreements at COP29

Azerbaijan's presidency at COP29 contributed to the conclusion of significant climate agreements, Daniele Violetti, Senior Director of Programme Coordination at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), stated, Report informs.
According to him, under Azerbaijan's presidency at COP29, a new collective quantified goal on climate finance was established, and the rules governing international carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement were finalized.
"Thanks to this, parties will be able to implement their climate goals more effectively while simultaneously attracting additional financial resources for developing states," Violetti pointed out.
He emphasized that the agreements reached in Baku play an essential role in the further development of the global climate agenda and in translating climate commitments into practice.
