UNFCCC calls for turning Baku climate agreements into concrete projects

Ahead of COP31 in Antalya, it is important to preserve the results achieved in Baku and focus on their practical implementation, Daniele Violetti, Senior Director for Programme Coordination at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said, according to Report.

"Everything that has been prepared here in Baku shows that the work is continuing. However, as we all know, it is now necessary to refocus on practical action and on how these measures can contribute to improving people's quality of life," he noted.

Violetti stressed that preparations for COP31 should focus primarily on implementing climate commitments that have already been adopted, including electrification, the development of a circular economy, renewable energy, and the adoption of climate-positive approaches to land use.

He also highlighted the need to mobilize financial resources and investment, as well as to support countries in preparing their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and national adaptation plans (NAPs).

"The work ahead should focus on turning climate solutions into concrete projects and delivering tangible results for people," Violetti added.
