All countries must take equal responsibility in combating climate change, said Damilola Ogunbiyi, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative, at the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.
Ogunbiyi stressed the urgency of the crisis:
"Climate change is advancing rapidly. We must strengthen our response mechanisms. COP29 was a crucial milestone-not only for developing nations but for all countries."
She emphasized that tackling the global climate threat requires serious negotiations on climate finance mechanisms:
"These discussions must continue at COP30. It's one of our main challenges. We need to identify and scale up alternative energy sources. The longer we delay, the more lives we risk-and the less progress we make."
The UN official also underlined the need for swift, coordinated global action to prevent irreversible damage and ensure sustainable development.
