Kamran Aliyev: Law enforcement vital in climate action

Law enforcement agencies play an essential role in protecting the environment and combating climate change, said Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev at the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

Aliyev stressed that environmental degradation-such as pollution, land degradation, and overexploitation of natural resources-negatively affects nearly every living being on the planet.

"Climate change is one of the most urgent global challenges of our time. The role of law enforcement in this fight is often overlooked, yet it is critical," he noted. "Law enforcement agencies must be actively involved in this process."

He added that many environmental threats are transnational in nature and cannot be addressed by a single country or institution alone.

"Ensuring environmental security requires joint efforts that go beyond borders," Aliyev said. "I propose that we unite our efforts and move forward together in this mission."
