Yusif Abdullayev: Azerbaijan aims to become a hub for international trade and investment activity

Azerbaijan views regional integration and economic partnership as one of the fundamental prerequisites for sustainable, long-term development, Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), said at the panel discussion titled "Mitigating Risks in Trade and Investment for Regional Prosperity," held as part of the IsDB's annual meetings in Baku.

"Our country has solidified its status as a strategic hub in the energy and transport sectors. In addition, we aim to transform into a center for international trade and investment activity. Thanks to major infrastructure investments and consistent economic reforms, we have strengthened our role in connecting markets along the East-West and North-South corridors, facilitating the free movement of goods and services.

In particular, between 2020 and 2025, Azerbaijan's total trade turnover more than doubled-increasing from $24.5 billion to $49.4 billion USD," Abdullayev emphasized.

The head of AZPROMO also noted that Azerbaijan is simultaneously pursuing a deliberate course toward diversifying its national economy.

"Even though the energy sector remains a significant pillar of our economy, the country's strategic vision goes far beyond the hydrocarbon sector: we are creating new prospects for local and foreign investors in priority areas that will define and accelerate future sustainable growth," the Executive Director of AZPROMO added.
