Omuraliev: OTS prioritizes logistics, transport and investment

Logistics, transport and investment are being given special attention to increase trade turnover among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev told Report.

He noted that important projects are currently being implemented to strengthen transport and logistics potential within the OTS space.

"Increasing the volume of trade requires logistics, transport and investment. In this regard, the Middle Corridor plays a major role. This route means the revival of the historic Silk Road. At present, work is underway on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project and other segments of the Middle Corridor. The potential of the Middle Corridor is very large. Once it operates at full capacity, the volume of cargo transportation along this route will increase to 15 million tons," Omuraliev stated.

The Secretary General also emphasized that the Turkic Investment Fund has started operating, noting that its $600 million capital will make a significant contribution to the development of small and medium‑sized businesses and to supporting entrepreneurship in the region.

He further addressed issues of digitalization, simplification of customs procedures and tariff unification, saying: "Within the framework of the Organization, Customs Union mechanisms and cooperation platforms at the level of transport ministers are functioning. Last year we also established an association of private logistics companies. Currently, the private sector and state institutions are working closely together. I hope we will see the results of this cooperation in the near future."
