E-commerce accounts for 20% of retail sales in Türkiye — Trendyol

E-commerce currently makes up just 20% of total retail sales in Türkiye, said Irem Cagrı Yilandil, Head of International Expansion at Trendyol, during a panel at the INMerge Innovation Summit 2025 organized by PASHA Holding in Baku, Report informs.

She noted that Trendyol now works with 250,000 sellers and connects them with over 30 million customers in Türkiye alone. "Five years ago, e-commerce accounted for only 10% of retail sales in Türkiye. It has doubled in that time, a trend accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. But most importantly, local players like us invested heavily in digitalization and gained consumer trust," Yilandil said.

Trendyol began its international expansion two years ago and is now active in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Greece, and Bulgaria.

"In Romania, the share of e-commerce in retail is around 10–12%. It's 9% in Saudi Arabia and 5–7% in Central Asia. This shows significant potential. We believe the region offers major growth opportunities for local players," she added.
