Deputy PM: Azerbaijan-China relations enter new phase, boosting trade and investment

Azerbaijan and China have stepped into a new phase of cooperation, with the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership giving strong momentum to trade and investment collaboration, Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at the China-Azerbaijan Bilateral Investment Promotion event held within the framework of the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT 2025) in Xiamen, Fujian Province, Report informs.
He linked this positive trend to the active and joint participation of both countries in the Belt and Road Initiative.
China's Deputy Minister of Commerce Ling Ji noted the upward trajectory of economic ties between the two countries. He highlighted the close cooperation of Chinese companies with Azerbaijan in trade, logistics, industry, and green energy sectors. He also spoke about the growing bilateral trade and investment indicators in recent years.
Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev emphasized China as one of Azerbaijan's main trade partners and stressed the practical development of investment relations. He provided details on successful joint initiatives in industrial production, renewable energy, agriculture, and ICT, as well as upcoming projects aimed at localizing production and technology transfer.
Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov pointed out that combining Azerbaijan's solar and wind energy potential with China's advanced technologies creates favorable conditions for successful joint projects and said energy transition partnership will further expand.
The event also featured speeches and presentations by Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO; Bahruz Bahramov, Deputy Executive Director of the State Oil Fund; Ismayil Manafov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Authorized Body of the Alat Free Economic Zone; Liu Minqiang, Director of China's Investment Promotion Agency; and Zhang Shuo, Director of the Direct Investment Department of China Investment Corporation. They discussed the investment climate, mutually beneficial initiatives, and trade promotion.
In a panel session, representatives from Azerbaijan Investment Holding, the Agency for Development of Economic Zones, China's Khorgos Economic Development Zone, and companies from industrial and ICT sectors of both countries shared ideas and proposals to strengthen bilateral business contacts.
The event continued with B2B meetings to further foster cooperation.
