The member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) are considering creating an original economic cooperation mechanism adapted to the specific features of the region, rather than replicating the existing model of the European Union in the future.
Birol Küle, head of the Turkish Competition Authority, told Report's correspondent dispatched to Shusha.
According to him, the goal is not to apply existing models as they are.
"Instead of taking the structure of the European Union as an example, we are trying to create a more efficient model that is specific to our own geography. Initial steps have already been taken in this area, and the process is continuing," he said.
Küle also noted that intensive cooperation between the competition authorities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye is continuing without interruption.
"The sides regularly hold joint training sessions, discussions and exchanges of experience. Although this cooperation is not always in the media spotlight, very close ties have been established between the competition authorities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye," he said.
Küle stressed that amid the recent economic growth observed in Turkic states, it is important to apply competition legislation across all segments of the economy.
"One of the fundamental conditions for sustainable economic growth and an improvement in people's living standards is ensuring a healthy competitive environment. Extending competition law even to the smallest areas of the economy is essential for long-term development and public welfare," he said.
