Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan trade turnover triples over past five years

The volume of mutual trade between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has tripled over the past five years.
According to Report's correspondent from Tashkent, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed further deepening Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan strategic partnership and allied relations during a restricted-format meeting and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
The presidents noted the dynamic development of bilateral ties, as well as close contacts between the parliaments, governments, and relevant agencies of the two countries.
The sides highlighted opportunities to increase trade turnover to $1 billion. A program with specific measures to achieve this important target is being adopted as the basis for reaching this goal.
Over the past five years, mutual trade between the two countries has tripled. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the energy, chemical, mining, textile, agriculture, urban development, and other sectors.
