Azerbaijan triples revenue from sugar exports

In January–June 2026, Azerbaijan imported sugar and confectionery products worth more than $131.6 million, Report informs, citing the country's State Customs Committee.

According to the latest data, this represents an increase of nearly $14.7 million (12.5%) compared to the same period last year.

During the first half of the year, Azerbaijan also exported sugar and confectionery products valued at just over $73.5 million, marking a year-on-year increase of about $51.46 million (3.3 times).

For six months, sugar and confectionery imports made up 1.6% of Azerbaijan's total imports, while exports of these products accounted for 0.4% of the country's overall exports.

Overall, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations worth $24.661 billion in the first half of 2026, representing a 1.1% YoY increase. Of this, $16.320 billion came from exports and $8.341 billion from imports. Year‑on‑year, exports rose by 26.7%, while imports dropped by 27.6%.

As a result, a trade surplus of $7.979 billion was recorded in the first half, which is 5.9 times higher than in the same period last year.
