Azerbaijan starts supplying urea to South Africa

Azerbaijan exported 124,000 tons of urea worth $53.5 million between January and May 2026, according to official data, Report informs referring to the State Statistical Committee.
This represents a 32% decrease in value and a 54% decline in volume compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 85,741 tons of urea to Ukraine (a 54% decrease) valued at $35.3 million (down 37% year-on-year). Exports to India reached 14,244 tons worth $9 million, compared to no deliveries recorded during the same period last year. Meanwhile, shipments to Romania rose 2.1-fold to 10,570 tons, with their value increasing 2.3-fold to $3.2 million.
This year also marked the first time in 16 years that Azerbaijan delivered urea to South Africa, shipping 3,330 tons valued at $2 million.
In 2025, Ukraine accounted for 72.4% of the total 543,532 tons of urea exported from Azerbaijan.
