Azerbaijan sharply increases potato imports from Belarus

Azerbaijan imported 67,202 tons of potatoes, excluding seed potatoes, worth $24.6 million in January-April 2026.

Report informs, citing its calculations based on data from the State Statistics Committee, that this is 15% less in value and 19% less in volume compared with the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 24,548 tons of potatoes worth $8.85 million from Iran, up 14-fold in volume and 19-fold in value year-on-year.

Imports from Türkiye amounted to 23,696 tons worth $8.6 million, down 51% in volume and 46% in value. Azerbaijan also imported 8,227 tons of potatoes worth $3 million from Georgia, down 56% in volume and 55% in value.

Potato imports from Russia totaled 3,987 tons worth $1.5 million, up 22-fold in volume and 33-fold in value, while imports from Belarus reached 3,184 tons worth $1.2 million, up 159-fold in volume and 197-fold in value.

In 2025, Türkiye accounted for 46% and Georgia for 17% of the 131,340 tons of potatoes imported into Azerbaijan.
