Azerbaijan sees nearly tenfold surge in copper export revenues

In January-July 2026, Azerbaijan exported more than 69,117 tons of copper ores and concentrates valued at just under $153 million, Report informs, citing the country's State Customs Committee.

According to the latest data, this represents an increase of over $136 million (9.5 times) in value and 59,051 tons (6.8 times) in volume compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, revenues from copper ore and concentrate exports accounted for 0.5% of Azerbaijan's total export earnings.

In total, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations worth $29.216 billion in the first seven months of 2026, marking a 1.3% YoY increase. Of this, $19.336 billion came from exports and $9.881 billion from imports. Year‑on‑year, exports rose by 27%, while imports dropped by 27.4%.

As a result, a trade surplus of $9.455 billion was recorded during this period, which is 5.9 times higher than in the same period last year.
