Azerbaijan's red meat imports down nearly 7% in volume

In January–April of 2026, Azerbaijan imported 15,530 tons of red meat, valued at approximately $37.3 million, Report informs, citing the country's State Customs Committee.

According to the latest data, the imports decreased by 1,131 tons (6.7%) in volume, while increasing by nearly $3.3 million (9.6%) in value compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

Over the course of four months, spending on meat imports accounted for 0.6% of Azerbaijan's total import costs.

Overall, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations worth $17.403 billion in the initial four months of 2026, which is 2.9% more than in the same period last year. Of this, $11.879 billion came from exports and $5.525 billion from imports. Year‑on‑year, exports grew by 35.2%, while imports fell by 32.1%.

As a result, a trade surplus of $6.354 billion was recorded in 4 months, which is 9.7 times higher compared to the corresponding period last year.
