Azerbaijan increased frozen sturgeon imports in January

Azerbaijan imported 230 tons of frozen sturgeon worth $472,000 in January this year, according to the State Statistical Committee, Report informs.
Compared to the same period last year, the value of imports increased by 13%, while the volume declined by 25%.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 138 tons worth $207,000 from Russia, marking a 6% decrease in value and a 29% drop in volume year-on-year. Imports from Poland totaled 15 tons valued at $105,000, representing a fivefold increase in value despite a 29% decline in volume.
Additionally, Azerbaijan purchased 14.5 tons of frozen sturgeon from China worth $62,000, while imports from Estonia reached 40.6 tons valued at $47,700. Kazakhstan supplied 20 tons worth $44,000. No imports from these countries were recorded in the same period last year.
For the first time in the past 16 years, Azerbaijan also imported frozen sturgeon from Portugal, totaling 1.1 tons valued at $3,600.
