Azerbaijan imports over 48,000 vehicles in January-August

Azerbaijan imported 48,398 vehicles of various types worth $955.36 million in January-August 2026.

According to Report, citing the State Customs Committee, the value and number of imported vehicles declined by 30.8% and 35%, respectively, compared with the same period last year.

During the reporting period, imports of motor vehicles designed to carry 10 or more people, including the driver, decreased by 2.1% to 468 units worth $71.321 million.

Imports of passenger cars and other motor vehicles mainly designed for the transportation of people fell by 37.4% to 42,755 units worth $788.465 million.

Of these, 4,429 vehicles worth $94.866 million were hybrids powered by both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, excluding those capable of being charged from an external power source.

Another 10,274 vehicles worth $225.336 million were plug-in hybrids powered by both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor and capable of being charged from an external power source, while 637 vehicles worth $16.55 million were fully electric.

Imports in these three categories declined by 63.6%, 60% and 54.9%, respectively.

In addition, imports of motor vehicles for the transportation of goods fell by 11.6% to 4,745 units worth $44.699 million, while imports of special-purpose motor vehicles increased by 27% to 430 units worth $50.874 million.
