Azerbaijan imports 30,600 tons of corn worth $14.4 million in January-July

Azerbaijan imported 30,600 tons of corn worth $14.4 million in January-July this year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.

The volume of corn imports decreased by 6,300 tons, or 17.1%, compared with the same period last year, while their value increased by $335,000, or 2.3%.

During the reporting period, spending on corn imports accounted for 0.1% of Azerbaijan's total import expenditure.

In the first seven months of the year, Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with foreign countries worth $29.22 billion, up 1.3% year-on-year.

Exports accounted for $19.34 billion of total foreign trade turnover, while imports amounted to $9.88 billion.

Over the past year, exports increased by 27%, while imports decreased by 27.4%.

As a result, Azerbaijan recorded a positive foreign trade balance of $9.46 billion, which was 5.9 times higher than in the same period last year.
