Growing demand for halal products and the expansion of industries operating within the halal framework will be the main drivers of development in the coming years, Ameen al Saadi, Chief Investment Officer of Halal Products Development Company, said at a forum dedicated to the development of the halal economy at the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the growing Muslim population is driving increased demand for halal products. Moreover, the halal industry is no longer limited to food and Islamic finance, but also encompasses tourism, fashion, and other sectors.
Ameen al Saadi noted that the halal industry is gradually shifting from a model based solely on product certification to a broader approach that incorporates environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) principles.
"Today, consumers perceive halal certification as a minimum standard, expecting producers to meet high quality standards," Ameen al Saadi concluded.
