Aleem Khan: Pakistan, Azerbaijan serve as twin pillars of trade stability

Pakistan and Azerbaijan serve as twin pillars of trade stability in South Asia and the South Caucasus, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan said at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, Pakistan maintains resilience and international cooperation by connecting its maritime infrastructure with regional land corridors: "While Azerbaijan has the East-West International Corridor, the Middle Corridor, Pakistan's deep-sea ports provide vital North-South ocean connectivity to access open-sea routes. We firmly believe that sustainable economic resilience and trade continuity cannot be separated from active diplomacy, dialogue, and regional peace."

Khan noted that ongoing global and regional conflicts continue to create bottlenecks along major maritime shipping routes, increasing freight and insurance costs for Pakistan: "Consequently, Pakistan is actively leveraging its geoeconomic position as a transit hub and reliable gateway for regional trade. Our deep-sea ports - particularly the Port of Karachi - have accommodated rerouted cargo and operated around the clock to ensure the reliable functioning of global supply chains. In doing so, Pakistan has demonstrated its operational maturity and unwavering commitment to ensuring the smooth flow of global trade."
