Türkiye ready to strengthen regional cooperation on wastewater monitoring

Türkiye is ready to strengthen cooperation with regional countries on wastewater and environmental monitoring.

Report informs that Turkish Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider said this during a panel discussion held as part of the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku.

According to him, Türkiye remains fully committed to strengthening regional cooperation on wastewater and environmental monitoring.

"The country is ready to share its experience, contribute technical expertise, support capacity building and facilitate knowledge exchange among partner countries and institutions," he said.

Gizligider noted that Türkiye attaches special importance to the development of practical and sustainable institutional capacity across regions. In this context, Türkiye is well positioned to serve as a regional hub for training and knowledge exchange, particularly for the Turkic States, the Middle East and the Western Balkans.

He said more than 2,000 specialists from 53 countries have participated in international training programs on various areas of water management through the Turkish Water Institute Academy.

"This experience is now being expanded to the areas of wastewater and environmental monitoring. Last November, Istanbul hosted a regional capacity-building program on water, energy and sanitation for representatives of Islamic Development Bank member countries. The program contributed to strengthening technical capacity, promoting knowledge exchange and holding discussions on the more effective integration of water, energy and sanitation into national systems," Gizligider said.
