One of the most important directions of Azerbaijan's State Program for 2026–2030 on the development of production and processing of agricultural products, fishing and aquaculture is increasing production and improving the productivity of wheat, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Seymur Safarli said at a regional meeting dedicated to the discussion of the State Program, Report informs.
According to him, districts are grouped by potential, irrigation capabilities, agropark infrastructure, and laser leveling capabilities: "22 districts have been identified as target districts for wheat production, which provide the majority of grain produced and possess large irrigated areas, modern irrigation potential, agropark infrastructure, and laser leveling capabilities. The Kurdamir, Yevlakh, and Zardab districts are also included in this list."
Safarli noted that 8 prospective regions have also been identified, which include the Agdash, Goychay, and Ujar districts: "After the full implementation of water supply projects, development of internal networks, and land reclamation, these regions will also be able to participate more actively in wheat cultivation.
