Maximizing productivity is the primary goal of Azerbaijan's agricultural policy, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Seymur Safarli said at a regional meeting for the Shirvan-Salyan economic region as part of the State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fishery, and Aquaculture Production and Processing in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030, Report informs.
According to him, the goal is not only to increase cropland and livestock numbers, but also "to obtain more high-quality produce from every hectare, every animal, and every cubic meter of water through the efficient use of available land, water, feed, and other production resources."
"The state program includes five goals, five priority areas, 16 areas of activity, 86 events, and 23 target indicators. This demonstrates that this document is a comprehensive development program, encompassing not only general approaches but also specific measures, implementation mechanisms, and measurable results," the deputy minister added.
Safarli also added that improving the legislation "On the Agrarian Sphere," "On Seed Production," and "On Fisheries," updating subsidy and benefit mechanisms, expanding the implementation of an artificial intelligence agricultural system, and developing the Electronic Agricultural Information System will facilitate the industry's transition to a modern, data-driven management model.
