Minister reveals reasons for decline in agricultural production in Azerbaijan

The decline in the volume of agricultural produce in Azerbaijan from January to August 2025, compared to the same period last year, is due to climate change, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov told Report.

"Our policy over the past few years has focused on fruit growing, which creates significant added value, and this year, fruit exports increased by more than 40%. This means that the decline in the agricultural sector will correct itself over time; it simply requires a periodic transition," he noted.

The minister added that wheat yields have increased significantly.

Agricultural production from January to August of this year amounted to 9.424 billion manats, a 0.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. Over the past year, the value of crop products produced in the country decreased by 2.5%, amounting to 4.776 billion manats, while the value of livestock products increased by 1.1%, amounting to 4.648 billion manats.
