Minister: Azerbaijan investing in climate-resilient water systems

Azerbaijan is investing in climate-resilient water systems, the country's Agriculture Minister, Majnun Mammadov, said during the third day of Baku Climate Action Week 2025 (BCAW2025), Report informs.

The minister emphasized that modernizing irrigation is critical. He added that the country is investing in climate-resilient water systems that conserve every drop, such as in semi-desert regions.

He added that smart agriculture must go hand in hand with sustainable management of water and soil: "Agriculture remains a priority sector for the Azerbaijani government. It not only contributes to GDP but also supports food security, rural employment, and our cultural identity. Our farmers are resilient, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the best financial, technological, and institutional environment to succeed in the face of climate change."

Mammadov stressed that today's discussions will offer valuable contributions, share innovative practices, and generate practical solutions: "Let us work together to build farmer-centered, climate-resilient, and digitally empowered agriculture for Azerbaijan and the global community."
