Azerbaijan continues to face challenges in achieving self-sufficiency in meat, milk, wheat, and potatoes, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at a meeting on agricultural issues chaired by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.
He also drew attention to a structural imbalance: fruits and vegetables, holding only 14% of the cultivated area, account for 27% of total production, while grains, legumes, and forage crops hold 74% of the area but account for only 11% of production.
"At the same time, regarding the level of self-sufficiency, as you also noted in your speech, while we currently exceed 100% in fruit and vegetable production, as well as eggs, we still face challenges in other areas-meat, milk, wheat, and potato production. In accordance with your instructions, we will do everything possible to achieve 100% sufficiency in these areas," he added.
