Majnun Mammadov: Azerbaijan has taken important steps to develop agricultural sector

Azerbaijan has taken important steps in recent years to modernize and develop its agricultural sector, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said during a panel session at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026).

Report quotes him as saying one of the key priorities of the State Program for the Development of Agriculture for 2026–2030 is to increase competitiveness and accelerate the transition to intensive farming.

The minister noted that modern irrigation systems are currently used across about 130,000 hectares. According to him, the goal is to increase this figure to 300,000 hectares by 2030, which will contribute to both higher productivity and greater climate resilience.
