The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is one of the most favorable regions for investment in the agricultural sector, Jeyhun Jalilov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said at a regional meeting on the Nakhchivan Economic Region dedicated to the State Program for 2026-2030 for the Development of Agricultural, Fishery, and Aquaculture Production and Processing in Azerbaijan, held in Nakhchivan, Report informs.
According to Jalilov, in recent years, state policies aimed at developing agriculture, including the implementation of state programs for the socio-economic development of regions, subsidy mechanisms, preferential lending, support for farmers, provision of agricultural machinery, development of water infrastructure, and the introduction of modern irrigation systems, have provided significant impetus to the development of the agricultural sector.
He noted that the new state program aims to ensure sustainable agricultural development, strengthen food security, increase crop yields and export potential, expand farmers' access to modern agricultural services, and develop fisheries and aquaculture.
Jalilov emphasized that, thanks to President Ilham Aliyev's special attention, the coverage of state support mechanisms, tax and customs benefits, subsidized transportation costs, and other incentive measures has been further expanded for farmers and entrepreneurs in the autonomous republic.
"The activities implemented within the framework of the 'State Program for 2023-2027 on the Socioeconomic Development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic' and the 'Action Plan for 2026-2030 to Ensure the Efficient Use of Water Resources in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic' will provide additional impetus to the development of the agricultural sector," he noted.
Jalilov also noted that the success of the State Program will be ensured not only by the activities of government agencies, but also by the active participation of the private sector: "Every investment in the agricultural sector serves the country's food security, regional development, and future prosperity."
