Azerbaijan, Türkiye sign protocol on cooperation in seed sector

The Agrarian Services Agency (AXA) under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture and the Seed Growers Sub-Union of Türkiye (TYAB) have signed a Protocol of Intent and Cooperation, Report informs.

According to the ministry, the document was signed by AXA Chairman Sardar Hajiyev and TYAB President Miktat Olgun.

The protocol aims to further strengthen the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and seed production. It also aims to expand the exchange of information, experience and modern technologies, as well as contribute to the development of human capital in the agricultural sector and strengthen long-term technical cooperation.

Under the protocol, the parties will cooperate in training instructors and organizing training for farmers, developing seed production and certification systems, and cooperation in seed production, processing, storage and logistics. Joint activities will also be carried out in agricultural mechanization, precision farming, the application of digital and smart agriculture technologies, the promotion of renewable energy solutions, strengthening sustainability in agriculture, agricultural extension services, and improving farmers' knowledge and skills. Expanding information and technology transfer, promoting agricultural innovation, and sharing advanced international practices will also be among the key areas of cooperation.

Within the framework of the cooperation, applied training programs and technical study visits will be organized in Türkiye for Azerbaijani specialists, technical personnel and leading farmers. The programs, to be implemented under Türkiye's Applied Farmer Training Project (UÇEP), will cover seed production, modern agricultural technologies, digital and precision farming, certification systems, the efficient use of agricultural machinery and other relevant topics. Participants will also have the opportunity to become closely acquainted with the best practices of enterprises and research institutes operating in the agricultural sector.

The parties expressed confidence that the protocol will make a significant contribution to expanding agricultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, developing the exchange of knowledge and experience in the seed sector, accelerating the adoption of modern technologies, strengthening professional human resources, and ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture.
