Azerbaijan to strengthen support for women farmers

Azerbaijan will expand benefits and credit opportunities for farmers, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Seymur Safarli told journalists at a regional meeting on the Shirvan–Salyan economic region, held within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing in Azerbaijan for 2026–2030, according to Report's correspondent in Bilasuvar.

The deputy minister said that new support mechanisms, credit instruments, and benefits – including the provision of equipment – are planned to further stimulate farmers' activities.

Safarli noted that improving the quality of agricultural products involves establishing intensive orchards, creating modern farms, and enhancing farmers' knowledge and skills.

"At the same time, cold storage capacities will be expanded. Farmers also receive logistical support, with the state covering about 70% of logistics costs for exported agricultural products," he added.

The deputy minister also announced the development of special support mechanisms for young entrepreneurs and women engaged in agriculture:

"The key task of the state program is to increase the profitability of agriculture. Higher profitability will encourage youth participation, while targeted measures will help support women farmers," Safarli emphasized.
