Azerbaijan sets five-hectare minimum for land offered to farmers

A minimum cultivation area target has been set for land offered to farmers, and this is five hectares.

Report informs that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said this in an interview with AzTV, ARB TV and AZERTAC.

The minister noted that farms smaller than five hectares are not allowed to be established.

"Therefore, since some farmers have small land plots, they sometimes come together to establish cooperatives or family farms. Several cooperatives and family farms have already been created in various villages, and those lands are being allocated to them. I can cite Aghali as an example: 32 farmers joined together and created three cooperatives. A total of 51.6 hectares of land has been allocated to them, and contracts have been signed. Work in this direction is also underway in all other villages," he said.
