Azerbaijan's agricultural production to grow over 2% by 2030

It has been calculated that the growth dynamics of agricultural production in Azerbaijan will exceed 2% by 2030.

Report informs that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said this at a meeting chaired by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and dedicated to agricultural issues.

The minister noted that preliminary calculations show that 5.9 billion manats is expected to be invested in the agricultural sector under the State Program over the next five years:

"Of this, 2.2 billion manats is planned to be provided as state support. The remaining 3.7 billion manats is expected to be invested by the private sector. Regarding the expected economic impact based on these investments and the implementation of this State Program, I would like to note that the growth dynamics of agricultural production are calculated to exceed 2% by 2030.

Export growth is expected to be higher than 6%. I would like to draw your attention to a very important point: under this program, infrastructure and groundwork in agriculture will expand significantly. These and many other measures to be organized and carried out - intensive horticulture, development of greenhouses, establishment of modern irrigation systems and expansion of irrigation networks - are all designed to have an impact for a longer period after 2030."

According to Mammadov, the development of aquaculture related to fisheries is one of the main goals:

"Increasing the volume of fish produced in aquaculture by more than two times by 2030 has been set as a key goal. At the same time, we will try to achieve this for the first time in the country by providing subsidies and state concessions in the fisheries sector. The construction of fish-breeding plants is also planned."
