AI models tested on 220,000 farms in Azerbaijan

Last year, 220,000 farms in Azerbaijan were tested using artificial intelligence models, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture Surkhay Novruzov said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW 2026).

Report quotes him as saying the Ministry of Agriculture began the second stage of digitalization in 2018–2019 with the launch of the Electronic Agricultural Information System (E-AIS).

"We had a very large database. We knew exactly what each farmer was growing and how much produce they were harvesting from their plots. Accurate and reliable data is essential for an artificial intelligence project. Having this database when we launched the project was a major advantage for us. Although the data was not 100% accurate, it was sufficient to develop algorithms and solutions," he said.
