AI and digital tools to be widely used in Azerbaijan's agriculture

Artificial intelligence and digital tools will be widely applied in Azerbaijan's agricultural sector, FAO Representative in Azerbaijan Muhammad Nasar Hayat told journalists on the sidelines of the Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.

He said the use of artificial intelligence is highly important for improving the agricultural sector and adapting it to climate change:

"We are working with the Ministry of Agriculture in two main areas. First is the development of a farm resilience assessment system, which the minister mentioned in his speech at today's roundtable. Second is the direct application of artificial intelligence at the farm level in cooperation with a specialized agency within the ministry."

Nasar Hayat said that a farmer application and several other digital tools are currently available to large farms:

"However, together with Azercosmos and the Ministry of Agriculture, we are working to make these services available to small farmers as well. Our goal is to ensure that, in the near future, all farmers in Azerbaijan have access not only to digital services, but also to market, climate, weather and other essential information."
