Agriculture accounts for 8.3% of Azerbaijan's non-oil GDP in 2025 – Minister

The share of agricultural production in Azerbaijan's non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 8.3% in 2025, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov during a meeting on agricultural issues chaired by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Report, the minister noted that agriculture accounts for 5.9% of the country's total GDP.

"Agriculture is not just an economic activity, but a multifunctional sector contributing to food security, employment, regional development, and export potential. Nearly 50% of employment, especially in the regions, is provided by the agricultural sector," Mammadov said.

He also stressed that agriculture is highly dependent on climate and natural resources.

"In Azerbaijan, 55% of the land fund and more than 70% of consumed water are used in agriculture. This gives us reason to believe that we should not think only about production in agriculture. The program must also take into account efficient resource use and adaptation to climate change," he added.
